The Landmark Hotels team has been working together for over 10 years. With Chairman and Founder

Chuck Sweeney providing oversight and strategic direction, the management team is headed by Shawn Sweeney, President and Chief Executive Officer. A veteran hotel manager, Shawn has been involved in new openings and takeovers in a number of destinations. Our team comprises of professionals with hotel skill sets which compliment each other and whose individual knowledge and experience cover a broad spectrum of hospitality operations, distribution and marketing, in global and domestic US locations, and in various hotel segments. 


The Landmark Management Team is supported by experienced professionals in various areas of expertise related to the financing, development and construction of hotels and resorts.   

SHAWN SWEENEY

President & Chief Executive Officer

Shawn Sweeney oversees the management and direction of the operations and marketing of Landmark managed world class hotels & resorts, restaurants as well as tour and activity products.

Prior to his promotion to President in 2011, Shawn was Vice President of Operations and General Manager with specific responsibility for the makeover and repositioning of the 1800 acre Makena Beach & Golf Resort. He oversaw performance at The Kahala Hotel & Resort where the RevPar Index peaked at 120 while the Landmark-managed Embassy Suites in Mexico City performed at a plus 150 RevPar Index.  At the Kea Lani Hotel, Resort & Spa, he was General Manager, leading it to become one of the most successful independent resorts in the Hawaiian Islands before its sale to Fairmont. 

Shawn is a second generation hotelier who cut his teeth in the hospitality industry while still attending Santa Barbara City College's Hotel & Restaurant Management program. He honed his management skills at Cornell University’s prestigious Hotel General Manager Program. Management internship programs in top end hotel companies, including Hyatt and Mandarin Oriental, during the early years of his career gave him ground up experience and training in international hotel operations in Asia and Europe.

Shawn is the proud father of three daughters who share his passion for ocean & beachfront preservation.
